"Immersed In" - Series 2 - 2017
The idea of "Immersed In" series initiated in 2015 when I first started playing with oil colors whilst applying them on canvas with my fingers. I was fascinated by the pattern that I was able to create with this technique. I was able to give movement, energy, and life to the flat canvas. Consequently, I composed the first series of paintings with the use of the three prime colors and white. In the first series, I painted the entirety of the canvas by mixing the prime colors directly on the surface. Mixing the fresh oil paints allowed me to play around with all the other hues that derived from yellow, blue, red and white. I was amused to see the variations of colors that emerged from this technique. I soon composed numerous paintings with this technique. I loved the overwhelming tranquillity or contrastingly the exited energy that the colors transmitted to the viewer. With this technique, I discovered the beauty of painting with supernatural colors.
Whilst I was in my freshmen year of university at USF, I did not make the time to continue with my creative endeavors. However, the idea of continuing the "Immersed In" series was constantly on the back of my mind. I soon reached a point where I could not have waited any longer. During January 2017, I, therefore, resumed the "Immersed In" series by creating series two. Here, I wanted to introduce another element to the paintings, depth. I began the new series by dividing the canvas into various sections. Each segment of the canvas would have been painted with the majority of a prime color. (Below in series 2 you can observe the first layer of the painting series.) Momentarly, I have applied the first stratum of color and once the oil will have dried I will apply two more overlapping layers. My attempt is to create depth and perception on canvas just by using colors that could take on the shape of superantual figures.
Currently, these paintings are in my studio in Italy, yet I am in San Francisco doing my spring semester. I will, therefore, finish the "Immersed In Series 2" throughout summer 2017. Once series two will be complete I will reveal the finished work.
